The Emek Mechina emphasizes maximum involvement in circles of activity and the varied life of the valley communities. We view the aspects of education and activity as complementary, each nurturing the other from the standpoint of “great learning and great deeds.” The uniqueness of the Emek Preparatory Program is embodied in terms of wide-scale activity and the emphasis on training participants as future social entrepreneurs.
Involvement in the community is one of the foundations of the Mechina. The Mechina initiates and integrates social projects and volunteering programs in its surrounds through a desire to take responsibility, and to become acquainted and form partnerships with the various valley communities.
The activity groups of the Mechina B’Emek participants cover a variety of target audiences, including children and youth in formal and informal education settings, seniors, special needs residents, and a range of areas such as reducing the gaps in education, creating change in the school atmosphere, ecological construction, one-on-one mentoring, increasing motivation for national service and meaningful army service, activities for festivals and holidays, projects highlighting community strengths, and partnering in cultural activities on the kibbutz.
